The Photoshop plugin is greyed out / inactive / I can't click on it

If your graphics program won't let you click on the Photoshop filter (eg the name of the filter is greyed out or inactive), then you are probably working with an incompatible image. This will sometimes happen if you load a GIF image, for instance. Try loading a JPG image file instead, and see if you can click on the menu then.
If you need to work with that particular image, you will need to convert it into a format that the plugin can work with. Try increasing the number of colors in the image to 16 Million Colors, and make sure you are working in 8-bit RGB mode to be on the safe side. (Some plugins won't work in CMYK mode or 16-bit / 32-bit color modes.) Once you've converted the image color mode, the plugin filter should become clickable again.
Also make sure that you are trying to click on the name of the plugin filter, not the plugin category. For example, "namesuppressed" is the category used for plugins made by our company. "Softener" is the name of the plugin, and is what you should click on.
